Top 3 IVF Apps – Pros and Cons

    Fertility, Infertility

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) can be a very effective method to help you get pregnant. A lot of women struggling with infertility have found IVF to be a successful solution.

IVF can be a complicated and involved process, so it can be extremely helpful to have an efficient way to keep track of important information every step of the way.

There are four basic steps to the IVF process. They are:

    • Inducing Ovulation
    • Retrieving Eggs
    • Fertilization
    • Embryo Transfer / Implantation

    Inducing Ovulation

Throughout the IVF process your ovaries will be closely monitored to determine the timing of when your eggs will be released.

This step is to ensure that egg production is sufficient and hormone levels are regulated. The more eggs produced, means higher chances of pregnancy.

    Retrieving Eggs

The next step is to extract the egg. This is done by withdrawing follicular fluid, and then isolating the egg from the fluid.

The egg is then transferred to a petri dish, and put in an incubator until it is time for fertilization.

    Fertilization

In this stage, the sperm sample that has been previously obtained is mixed with, or injected into, the egg to generate fertilization. The mixture is then carefully monitored and analyzed in an incubator, to promote the development of a healthy embryo.

    Embryo Transfer / Implantation

The last stage of the IVF process, called embryo transfer or implantation is a crucial one. In this stage the embryo (or embryos) is placed into the uterine cavity with the guidance of an ultrasound. Proper placement of the embryo(s) is essential.

How can an IVF app help?

There are IVF apps available to you, that can help you track the entire process. Many women have to go through the 4-step IVF process more than once for IVF to result in successful pregnancy.

This can be an overwhelming and stressful time. An IVF app can help reduce that stress.

Another good way to reduce stress during the IVF process is through acupuncture treatments. An IVF app can help you track that too.

    Top 3 IVF Apps

There are thousands of apps out there that assist with pregnancy and labor, but not many that specialize in tracking the IVF process.

Here are 3 IVF dedicated apps:

    • Glow
    • My Fertility Diary
    • IVF Predict

    Glow

Glow is one of the most comprehensive apps out there when it comes to fertility and pregnancy. Glow works by predicting fertility, and can assist you in following your progress all the way through the IVF process.

Pros: Glow is a very thorough and free IVF app that helps make sure you don’t miss any appointments or forget important information.

Glow has a very high usage rate and positive user reviews.

Cons: Some inaccuracy has been reported in predicting ovulation dates.

    My Fertility Diary

This app is also designed to guide you through the complex IVF process, while tracking progress and providing helpful tips.

It is toted as the first mobile app available to track the entire IVF process.

Pros: This app is free and user-friendly.

Cons: It can be difficult to make edits, after data has already been inputted.

    IVF Predict

This app was designed based on extensive research done on thousands of women going through the IVF process. Due to this intensive research, IVF Predict is regarded as the most accurate app for predicting IVF outcomes.

Pros: This free app is very well researched and offers high IVF predictability, taking into account personal medical history.

Cons: Data must be inputted correctly for predictions to be accurate, this app may be a bit more labor intensive.

Infertility is difficult and going through IVF is yet another hurdle which can be confusing, frustrating and may leave you with a lot of questions. These apps can help you manage your results, help you answer questions and equip you to ask the right questions of your doctor.  We hope this will help.
