Post Partum Care with Traditional Chinese Medicine

Acupuncture, Fertility, Pregnancy

Your beautiful bundle of joy has arrived! Your attention and priorities have shifted to care for this new little one, but what often can go neglected between the sleep deprivations and caring for your baby is your own health and recovery after delivery. The toll that pregnancy and delivery takes on your body is incredible and it requires good nutrition, rest and time to recover from it.

To replenish all the nutrition and nutrients used during pregnancy takes about a year and this period is called post-partum. I’ve chosen to discuss a few common concerns that can arise during this period that Chinese medicine and acupuncture can help resolve.

The difference lies, in the theory behind the combination of acupuncture points used, as well as the type of needles used, along with the style of needle stimulation practiced. Here are the most common forms of acupuncture and their differences between one another

Acupuncture can Induce Labour Naturally!

Acupuncture, Pregnancy

So, you’re 40 weeks pregnant, close to or at your due date. The anticipation of your new arrival is hitting its climax, you’ve prepared as much as you can and now it’s just a waiting game. At this point your doctor or midwife is monitoring you and your baby on a weekly basis and will probably start the discussion of a possible induction (augmentation) of labour within 7-10 days from your due date. This elicits a little a of bit anxiety for a lot of new mom’s. So the question arises, what can be done to help you deliver naturally? The answer is acupuncture!
