Mental Health Coping and Stress Related to Coronavirus

Psychotherapy

By Talia Singer

Heightened emotions such as fear and anxiety about COVID-19 are
understandable in such a media saturated world. Remember, there are concrete steps you can take, such as social distancing and good and washing, to lower your risk.

Some concerns or stresses people have at this time include:
 Concern for the health of yourself or someone you know over the age of 60 or under the age of 1.
 Concerns for your health if you have a pre-existing health condition
 Concerns for your mental health if you have a pre-existing mental health
condition
 Concerns related to overwhelming information in the media

Coping with these feelings involve being aware of whether your stress is
interfering with your sleep, appetite, and overall anxiety level. Reach out by phone or video chat to family and friends, take good care of yourself and do things that provide comfort and distraction like reaching a good book, listening to a podcast, or playing an online game.

Be sure to connect by phone with your regular health care provider or mental health care provider if you feel your symptoms of stress are getting to the point that you have no solace from them and causing you distress.
Counselling and therapy are available both in-person and online using the
software Zoom. For booking appointments, please call Acutoronto at (416) 486- 5222 or book online at https://acutoronto.janeapp.com/
