    Acupuncture

Yes, Naturopathic Doctors can do acupuncture too! In fact, it’s one of Dr. Stefanie Trowell’s favourite therapies to support the optimal wellness of her patients. The harmonious balance of energy described in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), reflects our overall goal: to thrive, not just survive in our everyday lives.

From a Western medical model, acupuncture influences the production and circulation of blood flow, neurotransmitters, hormones and inflammatory mediators. The strategic selection of acupuncture points and needle techniques allows for the release of endorphins (the ‘feel good’ chemicals in the brain) and helps to redirect the flow of blood and energy throughout the body to restore balance and maintain good health.

Some conditions that Dr. Trowell often recommends acupuncture sessions for include:

    • Stress
    • Insomnia
    • Digestive issues (irritable bowel, acid reflux, constipation, inflammatory bowel disease)
    • Facial rejuvenation
    • Menstrual regularity
    • Fertility concerns
    • Pregnancy-related pain or concerns
    • Labour Induction
    • Pain management

    Recommended Acupuncture Treatment Intervals

For best results, acupuncture treatments recommended 1-2 treatments times weekly for 3-6 weeks. Each session is 45-60 minutes.
