How does LLLT work?
Low levels of light are aimed at the target area, where the patient is experiencing pain or discomfort. These “lasers” will not burn or even heat up the skin. Instead, the light energy is absorbed by the mitochondria in your cells. You can think of the process as being very similar to the way plants derive energy from the sun using photosynthesis. The main job of the mitochondria is to produce energy that can be utilized by the body. Typically, the energy production in the mitochondria is achieved through respiration. Mitochondria uses the oxygen to oxidize nutrients so the energy can be released and used to help your body heal.
